The Cover Drive

There have been many great sculptures throughout history.

Now we can add “The Cover Drive” to this long list of marvels.

Driven by the burning desire to play Cricket and the frustrating reality of not being able to participate or watch Cricket during the lockdown. This latest masterpiece is the creation of John Bowles III.

JB III used some scraps of metal lying around the fabrication shop and with a few lunchtimes of effort he fulfilled his need to create this sculpture. As an experienced metal fabricator at Donfabs & Consillia, JB III’s normal day to day job is building railway rescue vehicles and bespoke metal projects. It seems from early reactions and admiration that the full metal eleven may follow.

This new creation can be seen during match time at JB III’s local cricket club, Loughborough Outwood’s Cricket Club, where it will now reside. As lockdown restrictions ease and the new normality returns, we wish them all the very best in future seasons. We look forward to watching their ongoing success.

Donfabs & Consillia fully support projects like this and will always endeavour to endorse local interests, donating time and materials when possible.

A special word of thanks to Charnwood Specialist Paint Services of Loughborough for their help, resources, time and the magnificent paint job.

There are already plans in place for other models, so watch this space for more news.
